Former WWE superstar and Louisville native Matt Cappotelli died Friday after battling brain cancer twice in the last decade, according to WDRB.
Cappotelli's wife announced his death on Facebook, writing, "You think you can be prepared for this when you know it’s coming, but you just can’t."
According to a 2017 news story from WDRB, Cappotelli was diagnosed with a grade 4 glioblastoma tumor, the most deadly form of brain cancer. He also battled with brain cancer in 2005, ultimately beating it in 2007, but ending his wrestling career.
Doctors removed 90 percent of a mass pressing on his skull in June of 2017, according to WDRB.
Cappotelli was awarded a WWE contract after winning "Tough Enough III." He made several appearances on "Monday Night Raw" and "Sunday Night Heat."
Cappotelli was 38 years old.
